Since I got my hair cut post-graduation this past May, I’ve really gotten into the swing of 60s-style clothing (Also since watching Moonrise Kingdom, but that’s a whole other obsession that I won’t get into just yet). I’m attempting to grow my hair out, so I have been trying new styling techniques to avoid pulling out the scissors again–in this case, straightening my kinky-curly locks. According to my friends, I look pretty Twiggy-fied, so I must be doing something right 🙂
Pink Sailor Dress – Forever 21
Scalloped White Socks – Urban Outfitters
Dark Brown Brogues – Forever 21
Earrings – D.I.Y.
Ring – Vintage
I specifically chose to purchase this dress because I was inspired by a long white dress featuring similar lines I saw St. Vincent wearing for her cover shoot for Paper Magazine, and I knew that when I saw this gem in Forever 21, it had to be mine. The sailor-esque collar with the decorative buttons beneath is my favorite part, because it adds a girlish romantic vintage touch to the entire outfit.
For a splash of whimsy, I paired the dress with these strawberry earrings I made from old buttons! I always try to think of other creative ideas for items outside of their intended use, and I intend on making a pair for my best friend who just moved to Texas (but shh! It’s a secret!). I’ll be sure to post a D.I.Y. on how to make these–super quick and easy and oh soooo cute.
I hope everyone is having a great Friday!
